Good Faith Estimate
Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate
Under the federal No Surprises Act and California law, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) explaining the expected cost of your medical and mental health care if you are not using insurance or choosing to pay out-of-pocket. As a private-pay practice, I will provide you with a Good Faith Estimate before your first session or upon request.
What Your Estimate Includes
Your Good Faith Estimate will outline: Your session fee The frequency of sessions (when known) An estimate of the total cost of services Because therapy is a personalized and evolving process, the length of treatment and total cost may change over time. If your needs shift, you may request an updated estimate at any time.
Your Rights as a Client
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate in writing before services begin (or within 3 business days of your request). If you are billed $400 or more above your estimate, you have the right to dispute the charges. You may request an updated estimate at any point during your care.
California Considerations
In California, licensed therapists are also required to be transparent about fees and provide clear information about the cost of services prior to the start of treatment. This aligns with your right to make informed decisions about your care.
Questions or Requests
